Mike Tyson once said, “The tempt for greatness is the biggest drug in the world.”
That has always resonated with me and I imagine it resonates with any young ambitious individual crazy enough to believe they can take on the world. The idea of not becoming great at what I do keeps me up at night. It’s an addiction. It’s a drug. And, like any drug, the addict must eventually decide whether the high is worth it.
I’ve lost friends, love and to be honest a part of myself chasing the high of greatness — even as I write this right now I’m thinking about my next hit.
