How to talk to people.

1. Listen.
2. Look them in the eyes.
3. Don’t make small talk — everybody knows it’s cold.
4. Listen.
5. Set your phone on silent and leave it face down on the table.
6. Better yet, leave it in the car.
7. Listen.
8. Don’t agree just for the sake of agreeing.
9. Don’t disagree just for the sake of disagreeing.
10. Listen.
11. Say something interesting.
12. Leave them better than you found them.
13. Listen.
